Monroe County Community College (MCCC) and the DTE Energy Foundation today celebrated the 10th anniversary of their partnership in MCCC’s Nuclear Engineering Technology (NUET) Program. The NUET program was established in response to increasing demand for highly skilled professionals in the nuclear power industry in the region including DTE’s Fermi 2 nuclear power plant. Eleven initiatives at Monroe County Community College recently received grant award notification during a virtual awards ceremony hosted by The Foundation at MCCC. Monroe County Community College has received the largest donation by an individual in its 55-year history. At a ceremony held today at Monroe County Community College, Gary J. Vajcner, a local businessman and philanthropist, donated $1.1 million to The Foundation at MCCC in memory of his wife, Patricia A. Vajcner, and in tribute to the life they built together.
