The Foundation Monroe County Community College has awarded the Second District American Legion Monroe County Annual Scholarship to Heather Lore. The funds will provide scholarship support for veterans and/or their children attending MCCC on a full-time basis. The $500 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.
Lore, of Carleton, is a 1996 graduate of Altoona Area High School. She is studying in the MCCC Respiratory Therapy program and is treasurer of the Respiratory Therapy Club. Heather is a very active member of her church community. Heather is the daughter of Ricky Ruggery and Susan Fish and is married to Jeff Lore and has four sons, Cameron Clapper, Noah Lore, Dylan Lore and Gavyn Lore.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a veteran or the child of a veteran; who received an honorable discharge and must submit a copy of their DD-214. Eligibility requirements also include Monroe County, Michigan, residency and the recipient must be a high school graduate entering their first year of college at MCCC as a full-time student. Financial need may be considered in awarding this scholarship.
