The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the George Rhodes Scholarship to Alaina Mullins. The $250 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, supplies and books.
Mullins, of Woodhaven, is a 2022 graduate of Woodhaven High School. She is taking pre-social sciences courses at MCCC where she is president of the Student Government Association, serves as a Writing Fellow, is a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. As a member of these organizations, she has organized and participated in a variety of community involvement activities including voter registration events, a drive for Paula’s House during domestic violence awareness month and a bake sale during the AAUW association meeting on campus to raise funds for SGA. Alaina is the daughter of Rhonda Mullins and Brian Mullins.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must maintain part-time enrollment (enrolled in six credit hours) during the scholarship year and maintain a 3.0 grade point average. The student must have worked at least one semester in a tutoring program recognized by the Student Success Center or an academic division at MCCC and remain active in the tutoring program during the scholarship year.
