The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Patricia A. Vajcner Memorial Scholarship to Max Alvarez. The $2,600 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.
Alvarez, of Allen Park, is a 2021 graduate of Allen Park High School. He is pursuing an associate of applied science degree in nuclear engineering technology at MCCC. He has volunteered coaching his sister’s soccer team, help clean up litter with the Allen Park Presbyterian Church and helped at Habitat for Humanity with the sodding project. Max is the son of Jose and Andrea Alvarez.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be pursuing a degree or certificate that will prepare them to enter the skilled trades with strong preference given to a student who is in the product and process technology program and maintain at least part-time enrollment at MCCC. Financial need may be considered in awarding this scholarship.
Applications for scholarships awarded by The Foundation for the 2024 – 25 academic year are now being accepted. The online scholarship application is available at www.monroeccc.edu/scholarships. Returning and prospective students are encouraged to apply now for over 200 available scholarships for the upcoming academic year. Students have until March 1, 2024, to complete their scholarship application; however, it is recommended that students apply as soon as possible. Not all scholarships are need-based or require a high grade point average or full-time status. Many are program specific and are available in all traditional and technical career training programs.
