THE FOUNDATION AT MCCC AWARDS THE MCCC ALUMNI FAMILY MEMBER SCHOLARSHIP

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the MCCC Alumni Family Member Scholarship to Camden Comer, Lexi DeBruyne and Ashlee Metdepenningen. Each $2,500 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books, fees and essential supplies.

Comer, of Temperance, is a 2016 graduate of Bedford Senior High School. He is studying accounting and business at MCCC and is a member of Student Government. He is volunteer for Grape Missionary Baptist Church’s Vacation Bible School, assisting leaders and teachers in youth activities and lessons.  Camden is the son of Chad and Crystal Comer.

DeBruyne, of Ottawa Lake, is a 2023 graduate of Whiteford Agricultural High School.  She is currently studying general studies while enrolled at MCCC and volunteered helping Professor La Clair, Honors Coordinator, with College Decision Day.  She is the daughter of Tonia and John DeBruyne.

Metdepenningen, of Newport, is a 2021 graduate of Jefferson High School.  She is currently in the LPN to RN bridge nursing program and participated in the LPN bake sale.  She is the daughter of Michael and Rebekah Metdepenningen.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a Monroe County resident, a U.S. citizen, a Monroe County high school graduate, and an immediate relative (child or spouse) of an MCCC graduate or student who earned 24 or more credits at MCCC. Additionally, a student must maintain full-time enrollment status of 12 credit hours or more. Special consideration will be given to a relative of an MCCC Alumni Association member in good standing.

Applications for scholarships awarded by The Foundation for the 2024 – 25 academic year are now being accepted. The online scholarship application is available at www.monroeccc.edu/scholarships. Returning and prospective students are encouraged to apply now for over 200 available scholarships for the upcoming academic year. Students have until March 1, 2024, to complete their scholarship application; however, it is recommended that students apply as soon as possible. Not all scholarships are need-based or require a high grade point average or full-time status. Many are program specific and are available in all traditional and technical career training programs.
