The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Marvin and Jean Baumann Family Scholarship to Payton Binder. The $1,600 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and fees.
Binder, of Ottawa Lake, is a 2023 graduate of Bedford High School. He is studying liberal arts – pre practical nursing while attending MCCC. Along with his family, Payton has volunteered to pick up trash on the roads. He is the son of Katheryn Binder and Jim Binder.
To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be pursuing a degree in an applied technology or health sciences occupational program at MCCC. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who is a resident of Monroe County, Mich., have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and must be enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours.
Applications for scholarships awarded by The Foundation for the 2024 – 25 academic year are now being accepted. The online scholarship application is available at www.monroeccc.edu/scholarships. Returning and prospective students are encouraged to apply now for over 200 available scholarships for the upcoming academic year. Students have until March 1, 2024, to complete their scholarship application; however, it is recommended that students apply as soon as possible. Not all scholarships are need-based or require a high grade point average or full-time status. Many are program specific and are available in all traditional and technical career training programs.
