THE FOUNDATION AT MCCC AWARDS THE EUGENE AND HELEN BEACH NURSING/RT SCHOLARSHIP

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Eugene and Helen Beach Nursing/Respiratory Therapy scholarship to Kaitlyn Cronenwett, Abagale Huff, Cheyene Rutherford, Erika Troyer, Mary Valentine and Deborah White. Each $2,200 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and fees.

Cronenwett, of Newport, is a 2020 Airport High School graduate. She is pursuing a degree in respiratory therapy while attending MCCC. Kaitlyn is daughter of Christy Cronenwett and Ronald Cronenwett.

Huff, of Carleton, is a 2022 St. Mary’s Catholic Central graduate. She is pursuing a degree in nursing while attending MCCC and a member of the Student Nurses Association and Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor’s Society. Abagale is the daughter of Teresa Huff and David Huff.
Rutherford, of Temperance, is a 2021 graduate of Bedford High School. She is studying respiratory therapy at MCCC. Cheyene is the niece of Anthony Rutherford.

Troyer, of Carleton, is a 2012 Jefferson High School graduate. She is pursuing a degree in nursing while attending MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurses Association. Erika is the daughter of Christopher Troyer, spouse to Codie James and the mother to Madison Troyer-James, Wyatt James, Wrenley James and Rorie James.

Valentine, of Dundee, is a 1994 Romulus High School graduate. She is pursuing a degree in respiratory therapy at MCCC and is a member of the Respiratory Therapy Club. She is the daughter of Miriam Fossett and mother to Felicity Duffy, Isabelle Valentine and Michael Valentine, Jr.
White, of Westland, is a 1980 of Plymouth Salem High School, Canton, MI. She is pursuing a degree in nursing while attending MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurses Association. Deborah teaches religious education for 6th graders at St. Mary, Cause of Our Joy and is a member of Moose Lodge 1317 in Livonia. She is the spouse to Glenn and mother to Nicholas, Ian and Victoria.

To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be a Monroe County resident, a second-year student enrolled in the registered nursing or respiratory therapy program, demonstrates above average clinical and performance, and a high degree of personal and professional integrity.
