The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Elizabeth and Samuel Campbell Memorial Scholarships to Brooke Benitez, Ashley Huff, Marc McLennan, and Mia Sotelo. Each $1,600 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Benitez, of Monroe, is a 2021 graduate of Monroe High School. She is working toward an associate degree in early childhood education at MCCC where she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Michigan Association for the Education of Young Children. She is the daughter of Jennifer O’Neil and Michael Benitez and granddaughter to Debra Massingo.
Huff, of Temperance, is a 2011 graduate of Bedford High School. She is in the LPN to RN Bridge Program at MCCC. Ashley is the spouse to Matt Mozena and mother to Jacquelyn Mozena. McLennan, of Erie, is a 2024 graduate of Mason Senior High School. He is working toward an associate of applied science degree in computer science at MCCC. Marc has volunteered at several VEX Robotics events hosted at MCCC. He is the son of Kim McLennan and Beth McLennan.
Sotelo, of Allen Park, is a 2023 graduate of Allen Park High School, Allen Park, MI. She is working toward an associate of science degree at MCCC. She is a Writing Fellow, student assistant for professor Lori Jo Couch, student ambassador and is the secretary of Intramural Sports Club. Mia is the daughter of Bianca Sotelo.
To be eligible for this scholarship the student must demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.
