Registration is now open for the remaining Tae Kwon Do classes offered by Monroe County community College for the winter and spring months. The Tae Kwon Do classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-7:45 p.m. in the Welch Health Education Building on the Main Campus, 1555 S. Raisinville Road, MI. The next session (Section 2) begins Thursday, February 8, and runs through Thursday, February 29. The remining two sessions begin March 12 (Section 3) and April 9 (Section 4). The cost for each session is $60 per person with a senior discount rate of $31.50. Participants can also add a private lesson for an additional $35 per private lesson, which is a popular option for many students.
"We welcome new students from the age of ten on up to join us and learn mind and body control through unarmed self-defense techniques, discipline and concentration," said Master Mark Bergmooser, one of the instructors for the classes. "Tae Kwon Do translates into 'the way of kicking and punching with proper attitude and concentration' in Korean," added Bergmooser, who holds a fifth-degree black belt in the martial art. Frank Stasa also is an instructor for MCCC's Tae Kwon Do classes.
