MPS, MCCC PARTNER TO ELIMINATE MCCC ADMISSIONS APPLICATION STEP FOR MHS SENIORS

MONROE, Mich. -- Monroe Public Schools and Monroe County Community College have partnered to eliminate the need for MHS seniors to complete an application for admission to enroll at MCCC.

High school seniors at MPS will automatically be eligible to register to attend orientation and subsequently enroll in classes at MCCC.

Eliminating the application step for high school graduates streamlines the transition from high school to college, including encouraging early access to scholarships, advising and other college services, said Katie Navock, director of enrollment management at MCCC.

Beginning with the high school graduating class of 2025, student data from Monroe Public Schools will be entered into the MCCC data system to permit students to immediately begin enrollment steps for the Fall 2025 college semester.

“We truly appreciate our partnership with Monroe Community College. It is our hope that by removing the barrier of the application process more students will take advantage of Monroe County Community College as they navigate the next steps in their career development," said Andrew Shaw, MPS superintendent.

“This is one of the most innovative programs in the state. Huge kudos to Katie Navock and Superintendent Shaw for collaborating and finding innovative new ways to make college access a reality for Monroe High School students,” said Dr. Scott Behrens, vice president of enrollment management and student success at MCCC.

A letter of introduction and explanation of benefits will be sent to eligible students in mid-November. Students interested in enrolling at MCCC may contact admissions@monroeccc.edu.

This program is at no cost to students or the school. Students are not required to enroll. The program includes all students graduating from Monroe Public Schools in 2025.
