Monroe County Community College is hosting another joint performance featuring the MCCC Agora Chorale and the MCCC College-Community Band on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. in the Meyer Theater in the La-Z-Boy Center on the college's main campus, 1555 S. Raisinville Road in Monroe.
Entitled "An Evening of Women Composers," the concert is free and open to the public. The evening will begin with the 25-member Agora Chorale performing:
- Festival Gloria, by Sherri Porterfield
- Where the Mind is without Fear, by Vicki Tucker Courtney
- Sanctus, by Terre McPheeters
- My Blue Heaven, arranged by Rosana Eckert
- The Water Is Wide, a Scottish folk song arranged by Audrey Snyder
- On Some Solemn Shore, arranged by Andrea Ramsey
- I Want Two Wings, a traditional spiritual arranged by Alice Parker
The Agora Chorale is directed by Jonathan Lunneberg and will be accompanied by pianist Nancy Honnaker, guest pianist.
Following an intermission, the 93-member College-Community Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mark Felder, will take the stage performing:
- Albanian Dance, by Shelley Hanson
- The Old Boatman, by Florence Price and arranged by Dana Perna
- Three Places in the West, by Elena Specht, including Trail Ridge Road, Lake Crescent and South Rim
- Circus Franticus, by Julie Giroux
- Fanfare Jubilee, by Stacey J. Berk
