MCCC Partners with Mason, Ida and Jefferson Schools to eliminate Admissions application step for seniors

MONRE, Mich. -- Monroe County Community College has partnered with three additional Monroe County school systems -- Mason Consolidated Schools, Ida Public Schools and Jefferson Schools -- in its Husky Quick Start Program that eliminates the need for seniors at those schools to complete an application for admission to enroll at MCCC.

Last month, the college announced the elimination of the application step for seniors at Monroe Public Schools.

High school seniors at Mason, Ida and Jefferson will automatically be eligible to register to attend orientation and subsequently enroll in classes at MCCC.

According to Katie Navock, director of enrollment management at MCCC, eliminating the application step for high school graduates streamlines the transition from high school to college and encourages early access to scholarships, advising and other college services.

Beginning with the high school graduating class of 2025, student data from the schools will be entered into the MCCC data system to permit students to immediately begin enrollment steps for the Fall 2025 college semester.

“Mason Consolidated Schools is thrilled to announce our new partnership with Monroe County Community College, offering students an exciting opportunity to jump-start their college education," Kelli Tuller, Mason Consolidated Schools superintendent, said. "Through the direct admission program, MCS students can seamlessly begin their college journey without the typical challenges associated with the college application process. This partnership ensures that every student has equitable access to higher education by removing barriers and simplifying the pathway to college success. We are proud to collaborate with MCCC to provide this amazing opportunity for our students and their futures.”

"We look forward to our students, here at Ida High School, participating in the Husky Quick Start program," said Charles L. Fuller, Ida High School principal. "We also look forward to hearing about their post-secondary experiences and how this program has simplified the process of becoming a college student."

Amy E. Gee, superintendent of Jefferson Schools said, "Jefferson Schools is climbing the ladder right now and partnering with Monroe County Community College to give students the opportunities to get started with college, [and this] will help us [and] them climb even higher. Through the direct admission program, Jefferson students can begin their college journey while bypassing the tedious college application process.

"We are beyond grateful to MCCC for this opportunity for our students. We can't wait to watch this process unfold and see how many of our students benefit from this partnership."

A letter of introduction and explanation of benefits will be sent to eligible students in mid-November. Students interested in enrolling at MCCC may contact the Office of Admissions at (734) 384-4104 or admissions@monroeccc.edu.

This program is at no cost to students or the schools. Students are not required to enroll. The program includes all students graduating from Mason Consolidated Schools, Ida Public Schools and Jefferson Schools in 2025.
