THE FOUNDATION AT MCCC AWARDS THE SONYA KAY BRETT BUSINESS AND COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS ENDOWED MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Sonya Kay Brett Business and Computer Information Systems Endowed Memorial Scholarship to Alexa Daniels and Amy DeGrand. Each $1,900 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.

Daniels photoDaniels, of Riga, is a 2021 graduate of Whiteford High School. She is studying business management at MCCC. She was involved in Future Farmers of America and the National Honor Society while attending WHS. Alexa is the daughter of Bradley and Julie Daniels.

 

  

DeGrand photoDeGrand, of Monroe, is a 1992 graduate of Jefferson High School. She is studying business management at MCCC with the intention of following the Michigan transfer pathway for business. She is the wife of Phillip, mother to Samantha Bean and Shelby Pankey and grandmother of five, Owen, Harley, Nolan, Mia and Delaney.


  
   

To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must be enrolled in either a business or computer information systems program, have completed 24 credit hours or more and have a grade point average of 2.8 or above. The applicant must be a resident of Monroe County, MI, and a U.S. citizen. Also, the student must maintain full-time student status during the scholarship year, which is defined as 12 credit hours.
