MCCC'S AGORA CHORALE AND COLLEGE-COMMUNITY BAND PERFORM "FRIGHTFUL NIGHTS" FREE CONCERT ON OCTOBER 30

Monroe County Community College is hosting another joint performance featuring the MCCC Agora Chorale and the MCCC College-Community Band on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. in the Meyer Theater in the La-Z-Boy Center on the college's main campus, 1555 S. Raisinville Road in Monroe. 

Entitled "Frightful Nights," the concert is free and open to the public. The evening will begin with the 23-member Agora Chorale performing a variety of Halloween-themed selections, including:  

  • The Fog by Audrey Snyder
  • Sure on this Shining Night by Morten Lauridsen
  • Lacrymosa (from Requiem) by W. A. Mozart, arranged by Russell Robinson
  • United In Purpose by Rollo Dilworth
  • Fly Away Home by PINKZEBRA
  • Circus Band by Charles Ives

The Agora Chorale is directed by Jonathan Lunneberg and will be accompanied by pianist Nancy Honnaker and Elizabeth Stewart, guest pianist. 

Following an intermission, the 93-member College-Community Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mark Felder, will take the stage performing four special selections, including: 

  • Night on Bald Mountain by Modest Moussorgsky and arranged by William A. Shaefer
  • The Witch and the Saint by Steven Reineke
  • Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saens, arranged by Mark Hindsley, with guest performance by violinist Ann Felder and narration by Bobb Vergiels.  
  • In the Hall of the Mountain King by Edvard Grieg, arranged by Robert W. Smith & Michael Story, with guest performance by the nine-member MCCC Inside Out Dance Ensemble under the direction of Kellie Laginess.

Following the concert, children and adults in costume will receive a special treat - no tricks.
