Monroe County Community College was the top destination for Monroe County high school graduates in 2022, according to State of Michigan data, with 27 percent of all college-bound students taking advantage of the college’s quality programs and affordable tuition.
The state data includes initial and any subsequent postsecondary enrollments within six months after graduation.
The University of Toledo was the second most popular destination for 2022 Monroe County grads, with 23 percent, followed by Michigan State University and Eastern Michigan University, each with 5 percent. Ten other colleges and universities checked in between 1-3 percent.
About 6 in 10 -- 57 percent -- of the college-bound students graduating from Jefferson Schools headed to MCCC. EMU was the next-closest destination at 6.4 percent.
MCCC was also the top choice at Monroe Public Schools (33 percent), Ida Public Schools (33 percent), Airport Community Schools (32 percent), Dundee Community Schools (32 percent), Mason Consolidated Schools (30 percent) and Summerfield Schools (23.8 percent).
MCCC is a popular choice for students looking to earn a degree or certificate or transfer to a four-year college or university. All 15 of Michigan’s public universities and 20 independent colleges and universities are part of the Michigan Transfer Network.
