MCCC HOSTING ACCOUNTING PROGRAMS AND PROFESSIONS OPEN HOUSE TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2023 at 6 p.m.

On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, current and future students will have the opportunity to learn more about MCCC's accounting focused academic programs and they types of professions that are available in this field. The Accounting Open House will be held at 6 p.m. in Founders Hall on the college's main campus, 1555 S. Raisinville Road, Monroe, MI. While the Open House is free, and students, parents and adults interested in exploring a career change are encouraged to attend, pre-registration is recommended at www.monroeccc.edu/events

MCCC offers a variety of business tracks of study, including accounting. The associate of applied science degree in accounting is designed to provide students with practical and theoretical preparation for positions leading to supervisory and administrative assignments, especially in areas such as payroll processing and administration, tax preparation and bookkeeping. Students who graduate with MCCC's AAS in accounting degree also have the opportunity to seamlessly transfer their first two years of study and credits to several four-year universities through articulation agreements with Davenport University, Western Governor's University and Indiana Wesleyan University.

"In addition, we have '3+1' articulation agreements with Northwood University and Siena Heights University for accounting," said Leon Letter, dean of MCCC's Business Division. The 3+1 agreements allow for approximately 90 credit hours, or three years of study at MCCC. "Our articulation agreement with Eastern Michigan University also allows for transfer of 82 credits. These agreements represent a tremendous cost savings for those students who want to continue their education and pursue a bachelor's degree in accounting, which opens even more professional career opportunities," said Letter, all of which will be discussed in more detail during the Accounting Open House event.

In addition to the AAS in accounting program, MCCC also offers a unique dual focused AAS in accounting and computer information systems degree that prepares graduates for potential entry-level employment in both career areas that continue to see projected growth and demand for professionals in Michigan and across the country.

In addition to the Accounting Open House on Feb. 21, MCCC will be hosting two other Business Division program exploration opportunities with a Business Management and Entrepreneurship Programs and Careers Open House on Wednesday, March 22 and a Graphic Design Programs and Careers Open House on Thursday, April 27.
