The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Roof Family Scholarship to Blake Birkenhier, James Huggins, Selena Natho, and Connor Williams. Each $3,750 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Birkenhier, of Flat Rock, is a 2022 graduate of St. Mary Catholic Central High School. While at MCCC, he will be studying welding. Blake is the son of Keith and Tracy Birkenhier.
Huggins, of Monroe, is a 2022 Monroe High School graduate. While at MCCC, James will be studying automotive service technology. He was a student in the career and technical education programs at MHS, and is involved in young adult programs at his family church. James is the son of Michael and Nancy Huggins.
Natho, of LaSalle, is a Mason Senior High School graduate. While at MCCC, Selena will be studying welding. She has volunteered at local animal shelters. Selena is the daughter of Tom and Starr.
Williams, of Monroe, is a 2022 Dundee High School graduate. While at MCCC, Connor will be studying mechanical design technology. He is involved in 4H. Connor is the son of Terry and Maryann Williams.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must enroll in an occupational program of study with the intent to complete a program of study at MCCC and immediately enter the workforce, must be a full-
time student defined as twelve (12) billable contact hours or more, must be a resident of and graduated from high school in Monroe County, Michigan, and must have a grade point average of 2.8 or higher. Preference is given to students graduating from Dundee Community Schools.
