The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Richard H. Hicks and Bernice Hicks Nursing Education Scholarships to Rachel Hanning, Alyse Labadie, Devon Trombley and Yolanda Uresti-Balderas. Each $1,700 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and fees.
Hanning, of Dundee, is a 2007 graduate of Sand Creek High School, Sand Creek, MI. She is studying nursing at MCCC and is involved with the Student Nurses Association. Rachel is the daughter of Neil and Michelle Micklewright, and the mother to Rylen Hanning.
Labadie, of New Hudson, is a 2017 graduate of Southgate Anderson High School, Southgate, MI. She is studying nursing at MCCC. She is event coordinator of MCCC Student Nurses Association, previously a member of Community of Scholars at Wayne State University and has participated in Feed the World Day and volunteered at the Wolverine Human Services Group in Detroit, MI.
Trombley, of Trenton, is a 2013 graduate of Trenton High School, Trenton, MI. She is studying nursing at MCCC and is treasurer of the Student Nurses Association. Devon is the daughter of Julie and Robert.
Uresti-Balderas, of Grosse Ile, is a 1999 graduate of Caledonia High School, Caledonia, MI. She is studying nursing at MCCC, is a member of the Student Nurses Association and a volunteer at Heck’s Market food pantry at MCCC. She is the wife of Jose and the mother to Yasmin, Juliette, Leonardo.
