The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Ray and Betty Kessler Scholarship to Gabreille LeBrun, Lily Liptow. The Kessler Scholarship was established at The Foundation at MCCC by Jefferson High School alumni to honor former longtime principal Ray Kessler. The scholarship will be available to the recipient for up to three years, providing funds are available. Each $2,500 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books, and fees.
LeBrun, of Newport, is a 2022 graduate of Jefferson High School. She will be studying psychology while attending MCCC. She was a member of a work-study program at MCCC. Gabreille is the daughter of Matthew and Nichole LeBrun.
Liptow, of Newport, is a 2022 graduate of Jefferson High School. She will be studying nursing while attending MCCC. While at JHS, she was involved in National Honor Society, Student Council, Student Prevention Leadership Team and a youth group who serves the community. Lily is the daughter of Chad and Tracie Liptow.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a United States citizen, attended both their junior and senior years and graduated from Jefferson High School, Monroe, Michigan, and have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
