The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Pfc. Dennis J. Miller Jr. Memorial Scholarship to Maya Volpi. The scholarship of $1,000 is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Volpi, of Monroe, is a 2022 graduate of Lakeshore High School, St. Clair Shores, MI. She is taking general studies courses at MCCC. She is a Sunday school teacher at Millburg Christian Church. Maya is the daughter of Corey Volpi and Ellie Volpi.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be majoring in history and/or planning to teach history and co-op/intern at any organization or institution in Monroe County that provides history education or historic preservation. Additionally, a student must maintain a 3.0 grade point average and a three-quarter time enrollment status of nine credit hours or more.
