The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Monroe County Exchange Club Scholarship to Ty Grube. The $1,250 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books, and fees.
Grube, of Newport, is a 2022 graduate of Jefferson High School. He will be studying nursing while attending MCCC. While attending JHS, Ty was named co-vice president of Student Council, secretary of National Honor Society, head of public relations for the Student Prevention Leadership Team (SPLT), and was the Jefferson Bear school mascot. He was an assistant coach for the Frenchtown Youth Softball League and volunteers at Red Cross blood drives, St. Anne’s Food Closet, Monroe County Special Olympics, Empty Bowls, at cross country and track meets, and has helped clean up at the St. Charles Catholic Church Cemetery and at the parish’s annual festival. Ty is the son of Michael and Carrie Grube.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a resident of Monroe County, and a graduate of Ida High School, Jefferson High School, Monroe High School, or St. Mary Catholic Central High School.
