Alyssa Mabe photoThe Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Marvin and Jean Baumann Family Scholarship to Alyssa Mabe. The $1,600 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and fees.

Mabe, of Monroe, is a 2012 graduate of Lincoln Park High School, Lincoln Park, MI. She is studying licensed practical nursing while attending MCCC and plans to pursue a registered nursing degree after completion. She has volunteered at local animal shelters and has performed blood pressure checks for local communities. Alyssa is the daughter to Bill Mabe and Debbie Gregory, and the mother to Ella Mae.

To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be pursuing a degree in an applied technology or health sciences occupational program at MCCC. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who is a resident of Monroe County, Mich., have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and must be enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours.
