Cadance Sharpe photoThe Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Guire Scholarship to Cadance Sharpe, of Monroe. The $2,600 scholarship is to be used for tuition.

Sharpe, of Monroe, is a 2022 graduate of Jefferson High School. She will be pursuing a degree in biology while attending MCCC. After achieving her associate’s degree, Cadance plans to transfer to a university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in biology. Cadance is a member of National Honor Society, and has volunteered for Empty Bowls, food pantries, food drives, tutoring, and bottle drives to benefit local nursing homes and Monroe County Human Society. Cadance is the daughter of Bradley and Dannielle Sharpe.

The Guire scholarship was established by the Iva Mennig Trust to assist with tuition payment for students majoring in math or science who have financial need and have shown academic excellence.
