The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Eugene and Helen Beach Nursing/ Respiratory Therapy scholarship to Taylor DeBlair, Katie Lay, Kaycee Long, Jessica Link, Amy McBee, Cayla Rose. Each $2,150 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and fees.
DeBlair, of Monroe, is a 2016 Woodhaven High School graduate. Taylor is pursuing a degree in nursing at MCCC. She has participated in community service through 4-H. Taylor is the daughter of Ginger Richardson & Jeff DeBlair.
Lay, of Monroe, is a 2005 Monroe High School graduate. Katie is pursuing a degree in nursing while attending MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurses Association. Katie is the daughter of Ruth Spencley the late Thomas Spencley and mother to Amanda and Natalie.
Link, of Petersburg, is a 2019 Whiteford High School graduate. Jessica is pursuing a degree in nursing while attending MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurses Association. She has volunteered at food drives in Monroe. Jessica is the daughter of Joel and Angela Link.
McBee, of La Salle, is a 1995 Monroe High School graduate. Amy is pursuing a degree in nursing while attending MCCC. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Society, Student Nurses Association, Michigan Region Membership and Tau Omicron Chapter Membership, Alpha Delta Nu. She volunteers for the Group Capstone Project. Amy is the wife of Kenny McBee, mother to Nico and Gianna and daughter of Jim and Kathy Petrangelo.
Long, of Monroe, is a 2013 Jefferson High School graduate. Kaycee is pursuing a degree in nursing while attending MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurses Association. She has volunteered at food drives in Monroe. Kaycee is the daughter of Austin and Colette Long.
Rose, of Monroe, is a 2007 Monroe High School graduate. Cayla is pursuing a degree in nursing while attending MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurses Association. Cayla has volunteered at MCCC vaccination events and cleaning up the skate park and baseball fields at Munson Park in Monroe. Cayla is the daughter of Wendy Love and David Rose, the fiancé of Robert Laurence and mother to Rayden Laurence.
To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be a Monroe County resident, a second-year student enrolled in the registered nursing or respiratory therapy program, demonstrates above average clinical and performance, and a high degree of personal and professional integrity.
