THE FOUNDATION AT MCCC AWARDS THE EDWARD AND HENRIETTA KNABUSCH TRUST MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Edward and Henrietta Knabusch Trust Memorial Scholarship to Austin Arting, Kaitlyn Cronenwett, Autumn Dunn, Taylor Hoover, Grace Horn, Ally Jacobs, Elayn Juhasz, Jewell Mason, Lauren Pier, Elizabeth Russeau, Madison Salliotte, Justin Schley and Jamie Thorn. Each $2,000 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, academic supplies and books.

Arting PhotoArting, of Maybee, is a 2022 Dundee High School graduate. He is studying game design and development while attending MCCC. He was involved in 2022 Ag Awareness, 4-H, Dundee Farmers Market and volunteered at DHS food drives. Austin is the son of Rick and Susan Arting.

 

Cronenwett photoCronenwett, of Newport, is a 2020 Airport Senior High School graduate. She is studying respiratory therapy while attending MCCC. While attending Bowling Green State University, she was a member of a religious club, squirrel feeding club and volunteers at local libraries. Kaitlyn is the daughter of Ronald and Christy Cronenwett.


 

Dunn PhotoDunn, of Monroe, is a 2017 Horseshoe Bend Highschool, New Site, AL, graduate. She is studying graphic design while attending MCCC. She has volunteered in nursing homes and donates canned goods to various shelters. Autumn is the daughter of Jay and Robin Dunn.


 

Hoover photoHoover, of South Rockwood, is a 2014 Flat Rock Community High School graduate. She is studying business management while attending MCCC. Taylor is the daughter of Jamie and Elizabeth Hoover.


 

Horn photoHorn, of Ida, is a 2021 Ida High School graduate. She is studying nursing while attending MCCC. She was a member of Bluestreak Buddies and coached elementary children in basketball at Zion Lutheran School. Grace is the daughter of Kirt and Kristin Horn.


 

Jacobs photoJacobs, of Carleton, is a 2016 graduate of Airport High School. She is studying early childhood education while attending MCCC. Ally is the daughter of Lon and Sandra Jacobs.

  


 

Juhasz photoJuhasz, of Monroe, is a 1988 graduate of El Cajon Valley High School, El Cajon, CA. She is studying mechanical design technology while attending MCCC and was involved in MCCC radio play “The Great Gatsby as Myrtle and Hexenbrut Monroe. She has volunteered as a Girl Scouts leader and recruiter, vice president of MOMS Club and River Raisin Battlefield kayak guide. Elayn is the wife of Mark Juhasz and mother to Anthony and Sophia Juhasz.


 

Mason photoMason, of Monroe, is 2021 homeschool graduate. She is pursuing an associate of science degree while attending MCCC and is a member of Student Government and Writing Fellows. She is a 4-H leader and volunteers as an assistant t-ball coach and at the MCOP food pantry. Jewell is the daughter of Scott and Kelley Mason.


 

Pier, of Carleton, is a 2016 graduate of Airport High School. She is studying nursing while attending MCCC. She is involved in 4-H and volunteers at Habitat for Humanity and her local church. Lauren is the daughter of Todd and Ginger Pier.

Russeau photoRusseau, of Temperance, is a 2014 graduate of Monroe High School. She is studying nursing while at MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurses Association. She volunteered helping a family in need get back on their feet. Elizabeth is the daughter of Keith and Brandy Russeau and the mother to Emelia Leverenz.


 

Salliotte photoSalliotte, of Monroe, is a 2022 Riverview Community High School, Riverview, MI, graduate. She is studying nursing while attending MCCC. While attending RCHS, she was a member of the Family Career and Community Leaders of America Group and National Technical Honor Society. She also volunteers at her church and for the Salvation Army. Madison is the daughter of Dawn and James Salliotte.


  
 

Schley, of Newport, is a 2012 homeschool graduate. He is studying software engineering while attending MCCC. He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and works with the Writing Fellows organization at MCCC. Justin is the son of Julie and Kendall Schley and the father to Dmitri Schley.

Thorn phtotoThorn, of Lambertville, is a 1995 Whitmer High School, Toledo, OH, graduate. She is studying social work while attending MCCC. She is involved with Bedford Public Schools as a volunteer, vice president of the Parent’s Club Organization, coach of the robotics team and has chaired on various committees and various fundraisers over the years. Jamie is the wife of Jeff Thorn, mother to 8 children and grandmother to 10 grandchildren.


  
 

To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be have at least a 2.5 grade point average, demonstrate involvement in community service and must maintain at least part-time enrollment at MCCC. Preference is given to a Monroe County, Michigan resident.
