The Foundation Monroe County Community College has awarded the D.A.V. Chapter 137 Scholarship to Bryson Pitock and Nicholas Witaszek. The D.A.V. Chapter 137 Scholarship was established at The Foundation at MCCC to provide scholarship support for a MCCC student who is a disabled veteran, an honorably discharged veteran or a dependent of a veteran. Each $500 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.
Pitock, of Carleton, is a 2019 graduate of Airport High School. He is pursuing a degree in general science while attending MCCC. He is the son of Thomas and Tammy Pitock.
Witaszek, of Temperance, is a 2006 Bedford High School graduate. He is pursuing a computer information systems and system administrator degree while attending MCCC. He is involved in Bedford Community Education 3B T-Ball with his son while he is learning how to play T-ball. Nicholas is the son of Stephan and Holly Witaszek and the father to Braxton Witaszek.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a resident of Monroe County, MI, and a United States citizen, must be a veteran or the child of a veteran, the veteran must have received an honorable discharge and submit a copy of their DD-214, have a 2.5 grade point average or higher. Financial need may be considered in awarding the scholarship.
