Tyler FinleyThe Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Chad E. Nyitray Scholarship to Tyler Finley. The $1,500 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.

Finley, of Temperance, is a 2021 graduate of Bedford High School. He is studying business management at MCCC then will transfer to the University of Toledo to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business management. At MCCC, he is a member of intramural sports club. Tyler is the son of Ivy and Byron Finley.

An alumnus of MCCC, Chad Nyitray established The Chad E. Nyitray Endowed Scholarship in 2013 with a gift of $20,000 to assist students that are pursuing a degree in business at MCCC with the opportunity to complete their degree studies. “I was fortunate enough to have received a quality education at MCCC because of the Board of Trustee’s Scholarship I received to attend college,” said Nyitray. “This scholarship is my way of paying it back, and paying it forward.”

In 2003, he joined the Board of Directors of the Foundation at MCCC where he served until 2018. “I had firsthand experience of the professionalism of the faculty at MCCC from my time as a student,” said Chad. “As a member of the board I continued to witness the dedication that the administration, faculty and staff, not only toward the student experience, but also to the community as a whole.” The $1,500 scholarship has been awarded every year since 2015.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have at least a 3.0 grade point average, be enrolled full-time in a business-related curriculum and plan to transfer to a college or university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business. Additionally, a student must be a Monroe County or Washtenaw County resident.
