Summer Semester at Monroe County Community College starts May 9; registration for current and new students gets underway Monday.

The semester runs through July 30, and wide selection of in-person, online and hybrid classes are available. Summer Semester classes are shorter sessions than 15-week sessions typically offered in Fall or Winter semesters  – most Summer Semester classes are just 8 weeks.

"Summer classes offer many advantages," said Director of Student Success Gerald McCarty. "They are short and concise, offer smaller class sizes that allow more one-on-one time with the instructor, allow students to catch up from previous reduced course loads and bring students closer to graduation."

Summer classes also allow students to take more difficult classes because they can focus their energy on fewer classes to achieve a higher grade, he said, adding that research shows that students who take summer classes are more likely to graduate, and most graduate sooner with less college debt.

New or guest students -- guest students are those who are away from their current colleges or universities for the summer or another extended period of time -- should visit the MCCC Future Students webpage and select from the list of student types for necessary steps to enroll.

Current MCCC in good academic standing should simply follow the steps below to register for classes.

1. Login to myWebPAL with username and password.

2. Under "Registration" select "Student Planning," then "Plan Your Degree and Register for Classes."

Current students can use myWebPAL to plan courses in advance, monitor progress toward graduation, view grades, drop classes, join a waitlist for a full class, review available classes in the Course Schedule, change contact or other information, request transcripts and more. Download the myWebPAL Student Planning and Registration Guide (PDF) for more information.

Admissions and Guidance Services are available to assist new students with enrolling and current students with the scheudling process. Please call (734) 384-4104 for more information or email admissions@monroeccc.edu
