The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the D.A.V. Chapter 137 Scholarship to Lori DeClercq and Ramona Hoefer. The D.A.V. Chapter 137 Scholarship was established at The Foundation at MCCC to provide scholarship support for a MCCC student who is a disabled veteran, an honorably discharged veteran or a dependent of a veteran. Each $500 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.
DeClercq, of Carleton, is a 1988 graduate of Airport High School. She is pursuing a nursing degree at MCCC and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. DeClercq volunteers on the Patient and Family Advisor committee at Beaumont Hospital and is the founder of the Vet Recognition Committee. She is the mother to Anna DeClercq.
Hoefer, of Monroe, is a 1982 graduate of Elizabethtown High School, Elizabethtown, Kentucky. She is pursuing a fine arts degree at MCCC. Ramona is the daughter of Kathlene, Richard and Rachael Guimond.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a resident of Monroe County, Michigan, and a United States citizen, have a 2.5 grade point average or higher and must be a veteran or the child of a veteran. The veteran must have received an honorable discharge and submit a copy of their DD-214. Financial need may be considered in awarding the scholarship.
