The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Roy and Bobbie Turner Memorial Scholarship to Emma Cousino. The $1,100 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and fees.
Cousino, of Newport, is a 2021 Jefferson High School graduate. She is studying respiratory therapy at MCCC. Cousino volunteered at St. Ann’s food drive and blood drive and every summer she is a Special Olympics volunteer. Emma is the daughter of Samantha and Anthony Cousino.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a Monroe County resident and a Monroe County firefighter or the child or grandchild of a local (Monroe County) firefighter. Additionally, the student must have a minimum of 2.5 grade point average and must maintain full-time enrollment status of at least 12 credit hours per semester.
