The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Philip J. Iott Memorial Scholarship to Mathew Kleman. The $1,850 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Kleman, of Temperance, received his GED in 2013. He is studying cybersecurity and information assurance at MCCC. Mathew is the son of Denine and Thomas Kleman.
This scholarship was established by Pennie M. Iott, with family and friends, to honor her late husband’s commitment to the youth of the Monroe community. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has participated in the Balanced and Restorative Justice (BARJ) system or a student who has participated in the MCCC Upward Bound Program who, at the time of graduation, was in good standing with the program. The student must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours per semester. Preference may be given to an applicant who has lived in the Monroe County Youth Center.
