THE FOUNDATION AT MCCC AWARDS THE MARVIN AND JEAN BAUMANN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

Lay photoThe Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Marvin and Jean Baumann Family Scholarship to Katie Lay. The $1,450 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and fees.

Lay, of Monroe, is a 2005 graduate of Monroe High School. She is studying nursing while attending MCCC and is a member the Student Nurses Association. Lay is involved in Gabby’s Ladder “World of Widowhood” support group.  Katie is the wife of the late Steve Lay, mother to Amanda and Natalie Lay and daughter to Ruth and the late Thomas Spencley.

To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be pursuing a degree in an applied technology or health sciences occupational program at MCCC. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who is a resident of Monroe County, Mich., has a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and is enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours.
