The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Kirwen and Karau Scholarship to Sydney Spicer. The $1,450 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Spicer, of Monroe, is a 2021 graduate of Monroe High School. She is pursuing an associate degree at MCCC then continuing her education at a four-year university. While at MHS, she was a member of the Marching Band, Drama Club, Home Builders Association, National Honor Society and Youth Activation Committee. Spicer volunteers at her church, Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and helped build handicamp ramps with United Way. Sydney is the daughter of Bryan and JoAnn Spicer.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be planning to transfer to a college or university to pursue a bachelor’s degree, be a graduate of a high school in Monroe County, Michigan, must show high academic achievement and must maintain full-time enrollment status of at least 12 credit hours.
