THE FOUNDATION AT MCCC AWARDS THE JOYCE HOAGLAND EBY SCHOLARSHIP

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Joyce Hoagland Eby Scholarship to Trinity Akens and Devon Trombley. Each $1,875 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and fees.

Aikens photoAkens, of Trenton, is a 2020 graduate of the Academy of Home Education from Bob Jones University. She is studying to receive her Associate of Science Degree at MCCC and then transfer to Madonna University to continue her education to receive her master’s degree.  Akens traveled overseas to the Mariana Islands to be an assistant English as a Second Language teacher, teaching grades K3, K5, first and second grade English, writing and math.  She is a choir member, volunteers in the nursery and teaches summer mission classes at her church.  Trinity is the daughter of Sarah and Jerry Akens.

 

t photoTrombley, of Trenton, is a 2013 graduate of Trenton High School. She is currently enrolled in the nursing program at MCCC.  Trombley volunteers at the Woodhaven/Trenton animal shelter, umpires softball games at Brownstown Community Recreation Center and helps organize city events with her grandma at the local VFW.  Devon is the daughter of Julie and Robert Trombley.

 

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must show financial need and must maintain nine credit hours or more per semester and have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
