The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Joanne D. Smith Memorial Scholarship to Abigail Armstrong. The $1,250 scholarship is used to cover costs of tuition, book and fees.
Armstrong, of Petersburg, is a 2019 graduate of Bedford High School. She is studying nursing at MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurses Association and Phi Theta Kappa. Abigail is the daughter of Kevin and Aundrea Armstrong.
To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be enrolled in a transfer program, maintain full-time student enrollment status of 12 credit hours, and a member of the College/Community Band or Agora Chorale during the scholarship year. Also, the student must be a U.S. citizen and a Monroe County, Mich. resident. Preference will be given to an Ida High School graduate and someone who demonstrates financial need.
