THE FOUNDATION AT MCCC AWARDS THE ETHEL K. (RUSSEAU) FOUNTAIN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Ethel K. (Russeau) Fountain Endowed Scholarship to Randall Brooks, Denver Brown, Erich Calkins, Robert Cicero, John Clark, Brandon Clegg, Seth Dandoy, Seth Davis Ellison, Nicole Harbison, Noah Harrington, Gabi Jaghnoun, Zachary Prange, Madison Sampson and Curtis Vickre. Each $2,300 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.

Brooks photoBrooks, of Lambertville, is a 2004 graduate of G. Robert Cotton Facility, Jackson, Michigan.  He will be pursuing a degree in automotive service technician at MCCC and also plans to take some welding classes.  Brooks has volunteered with the Knights of Columbus.  Randall is the husband to Linda and father to Danny, Britney, Kaitlyn and Kasidy.

Brown, of Petersburg, is a 2013 graduate of Bedford High School. He is studying construction management while attending MCCC.  Denver is the son of Maryellen Suydam and David Brown.

Calkins photoCalkins, of Carleton, is a 2021 graduate of Airport High School.  He is studying construction management technology while attending MCCC.  Calkins is involved in the Kindness Club, and is a member of the varsity soccer, varsity tennis and trapshooting teams.  He is the son of Richard and Susan Calkins.

 



Cicero, of Monroe, is a 2016 graduate of St. Mary Catholic Central High School.  He is studying welding technology at MCCC.  Robert is the son of Debbie and Rob Cicero.

Clark photoClark, of Monroe, is a 2021 graduate of Monroe County Middle College.  He will be pursuing a degree in electrical engineering technology while attending MCCC and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa.  Clark volunteered at Friends of Companion Animals and for Habitat for Humanity.  John is the son of Shelly and John Clark.

 

Clegg, of South Rockwood, is a 2021 graduate of Airport High School.  His planned course of study is mechanical engineering while attending MCCC.  Brandon is the son of Anna and Brian Clegg.

Dandoy, of Monroe, is a 2021 graduate of Ida High School.  He will be studying nuclear engineering technology (NUET) while attending MCCC.  While attending IHS, he was a member of the leadership team.  Seth is the son of Jennifer and James Dandoy.

Davis Ellison, of Newport, is a 2020 graduate of Airport High School.  His studies are in the Nuclear Engineering and Technology (NUET) Program at MCCC.  While attending AHS, Seth played football, ran track and was in the Upward Bound Program.  He has volunteered his time in his community serving food at a local church, helped at a carnival event and participated in a clothes drive.  Seth is the son of Christopher Ellison and Heather Webb.

Harbison, of Monroe, is a 2012 graduate of Monroe High School.  She is currently in the NUET program at MCCC and was a notetaker for students with disabilities during the fall 2020.  Nicole is the mother to Londyn and Alex Harris and daughter of Jennifer Wilhelm and Rich Harbison.

Harrington, of Dundee, is a 2017 graduate of Dundee High School. He is studying general technology while at MCCC.  Harrington is a part of the worldwide association of Jehovah’s Witnesses and have written hundreds of letters of scriptural encouragement to people throughout the county of Monroe since the beginning of the pandemic.  Noah is the son of Michael and Abigail Harrington.

Jaghnoun photoJaghnoun, of Monroe, is a 2008 graduate of Mohammad Saed Younes High School, Latakia, Syria.  He is studying mechanical engineering while attending MCCC.  He is the son of Jano Jaghnoun and Salwa Alabdullah.

 


Prange, of Lambertville, is a 2019 graduate of Bedford High School.  He is working towards a welding degree while attending MCCC.  While attending BHS, he was a bowling mentor for the Special Olympics, volunteered with the First Lego League Robotics team, O.L.M.C. Knights of Columbus Breakfast, parking lot attendant at Monroe County Fair and was currently the boys JV bowling coach.   Zach is the son of Steve and Tricia and brother to Kelsey, Tyler, Brandon, Mackenzie and Madelyn.

Sampson photoSampson, of Carleton, is a 2019 graduate of Airport High School.  She is studying construction management while attending MCCC.  Sampson is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and a volunteer with Project Dash-E (Downriver Area Students Helping the Environment) with Woodland Church.  Madison is the daughter of Ed and Ronda Sampson.

 

 

Vickre, of Temperance, is a 1986 graduate of Bedford High School.  He is currently enrolled in the product and process technology program at MCCC.  Vickre is currently the secretary of Bedford Goodfellows.  Curtis is the son of Vicky and the late James. 

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be pursuing a degree or certificate in any Applied Science and Engineering Technology division program (i.e. Automotive Service, Industrial Management, Product and Process, Welding, etc.), be a resident of Monroe County, Michigan, and a United States citizen, demonstrate financial need with preference given to a non-traditional student.
