The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Circolo Italiano Scholarship to Maria Sharrow. The $450 scholarship is to be used for books.
Sharrow, of Monroe, is a 1991 graduate of Monroe High School. She is studying accounting at MCCC. Sharrow has volunteered at God Works Family Soup Kitchen. Maria is the wife to Joseph Sharrow and mother to Joseph Sharrow, Jr.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must present financial need, reside in Monroe County and have a working knowledge of the Italian language or culture. Preference will be given to a student planning to pursue studies, training, or research relating to the Italian culture.
