The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Chad L. Stoner Medical Research Scholarship to Breanna Birkenhier. The $2,000 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.
Birkenhier, of Flat Rock, is a 2020 graduate of St. Mary Catholic Central High School. In the fall, she will be taking courses to earn her associate degree and then transfer to Wayne State University to study mortuary science. She is the daughter of Keith and Tracy Birkenhier.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have a minimum grade point average of 3.2 and submit a one-page essay outlining the reason for his or her interest in medical research and ultimate career goals. To maintain the scholarship, a student must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and have a 3.0 grade point average.
