The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the C. Ernest Read Scholarship to Hunter Lewis. The $1,200 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.
This scholarship was established by the estate of C. Ernest Read, one of the founders of MCCC. Read was actively involved in the early stages of planning the MCCC campus and served on the committee that created the initial guidelines for its development.
Lewis, of Temperance, is a 2014 graduate of Mason Senior High School. She is studying nursing at MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurses Association. Hunter is the wife to Curtis Lewis and mother to Ayvah and Blayke Lewis and daughter of Penny Lane and the late Stephen Lane Jr.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have a grade point average of 2.5 or above, have earned 24 credit hours and be active in a recognized college organization.
