The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Michael E. Newman Endowed Memorial Scholarship to Jean McManaway. The $850 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.
McManaway, of Monroe, is a 1976 graduate of Monroe High School. She is pursuing an associate of science degree at MCCC. McManaway’s community involvement include Monroe County Substance Abuse Coalition-Healthcare Sector Representative, MCSAC Medical Work Group Co-Chair, Elevate Church of Monroe, God Works Community Dinners, Oaks of Righteousness Village, Cultivate Community Monroe and Recovery Advocacy Warriors. She is the daughter of Ronald and Charlotte Hudkins, mother to Justin (Sara) McManaway and grandmother to Harper and Zachary McManaway.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a member of the Monroe County Community Credit Union, have and maintain a 2.8 grade point average or higher during the scholarship year, and maintain at least part-time enrollment, defined as six contact hours or more per semester. Financial need is also considered.
