FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Monroe County Community College students can now complete more than 60 percent of a bachelor’s degree in sports management at the college thanks to a new agreement with Eastern Michigan University.
MCCC and EMU have signed an articulation agreement that will allow MCCC students who earn an associate degree in business management to go on to complete a bachelor of science in sport management degree with a general business minor at EMU.
Of the 124 credits required to graduate from the program, 76 can be completed at MCCC. All credits that are earned at MCCC toward an associate degree will be transferrable to EMU.
The sport management program at EMU is designed for students who are interested in athletic administration and sport management in elite-level sports.
According to MCCC Professor of Business David Reiman, the MCCC business management faculty and leadership of the Business Division have had an excellent relationship with the business faculty at EMU and have worked diligently over the years to develop a number of articulation agreements.
He said that articulation agreements such as this one are extremely beneficial for students and can help to alleviate the stress that can come sometimes with transferring from a community college to a four-year institution.
