What: MCCC Food Pantry Grand Opening and initial Thanksgiving Dinner distribution in partnership with Monroe County Opportunity Program.
When: A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Thursday, November 18 at 9 a.m. Current MCCC students who have registered for the prepackaged dinners have appointments scheduled from 9 a.m. – noon.
Where: Audrey M. Warrick Administration and Student Services Building, near the Dining Hall in the center of the building, on the MCCC Main Campus, 1555 South Raisinville Road, Monroe, MI.
Who: Registered students at MCCC are eligible for Food Pantry services. For the Thanksgiving Dinner distribution, students are requested to register in advance. These dinners are pre-packaged.
Leaders from MCCC, The Foundation at MCCC and MCOP will be on hand for the grand opening event to help with food distribution and share more information.
Why: More than 30 percent of MCCC students have demonstrated signs of low food security according to the 2020 Trellis Research Student Financial Wellness of MCCC students. In response, MCCC, The Foundation at MCCC and MCOP have partnered to establish a Food Pantry.
The Thanksgiving Dinner distribution represents the initial offering of the Food Pantry, which will also be open from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning December 1 through the end of the semester, Monday, December 16.
Regular hours of operation will be established for the Winter 2022 semester that begins Friday, January 7, 2022.
