The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Richard H. Hicks and Bernice Hicks Nursing Education Scholarships to Tavena Dysart, Kylie Justice, Amy McBee, and Alexandra Rimmer. Each $1,500 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and fees.
Dysart of Monroe is a 2002 Academy of Inkster graduate. She is studying nursing while attending MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurses Association and Phi Theta Kappa. Tavena is the mother to Alayah Carithers, Uriyah Caritehrs, Amorah Snyder and Jaylin Dysart.
Justice of Dundee is a 2016 graduate of Dundee High School. She is studying nursing while attending MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurses Association and Phi Theta Kappa. She is the daughter of Rob and Cindy Justice.
McBee of La Salle is a 1995 graduate of Monroe High School. She is studying nursing while attending MCCC and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Student Nurses Association. Amy is the wife to Kenneth, mother to Gianna and Nico and daughter to Jim and Kathy Petrangelo.
Rimmer of Temperance is a 2018 graduate of Bedford High School. She is studying nursing while attending MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurses Association. She is the daughter of Roman and Shelly Rimmer.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be enrolled in the registered nursing program at MCCC. Preference will be given to students who are veterans or those who have immediate family members who are veterans.
