The Foundation Monroe County Community College has awarded the Ray L. Kessler Scholarship to Julianna Metdepenningen. The Kessler Scholarship was established at The Foundation at MCCC by Jefferson High School alumni to honor former longtime principal Ray Kessler. The scholarship will be available to the recipient for up to three years, providing funds are available. The $5,000 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books, and fees.
Metdepenningen of Newport is a 2020 graduate of Jefferson High School. She is studying in the healthcare field while attending MCCC. Metdeppingen has volunteered with the Monroe County Special Olympics and coached little kids soccer. She is the daughter of Michael and Rebekah Metdepenningen.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a United States citizen, attended both their junior and senior years and graduated from Jefferson High School, Monroe, Michigan, and have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
