The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Philip J. Iott Memorial Scholarship to Cailyn Flood. The $1,800 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Flood of Brownstown received her GED in 2019. She is studying nursing while attending MCCC. Cailyn is the wife to Steven and mother to Jazelle and Leon.
This scholarship was established by Pennie M. Iott, with family and friends, to honor her late husband’s commitment to the youth of the Monroe community. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has participated in the Balanced and Restorative Justice (BARJ) system or a student who has participated in the MCCC Upward Bound Program who, at the time of graduation, was in good standing with the program. The student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester. Preference may be given to an applicant who has lived in the Monroe County Youth Center.
