THE FOUNDATION AT MCCC AWARDS THE JOANN NAIDA LPN TO RN NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the JoAnn Naida LPN to RN Nursing Scholarship to Alek Byerly and Julie Hagerman. Each $1,000 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.

Byerly of Monroe is a 2020 graduate of Monroe County Middle College. He is studying nursing while attending MCCC and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, High School National Honor Society and Delta Mu MCCC Nursing Honor Society. Byerly also volunteers with Bedford High School’s Special Olympics Basketball program. Alek is the son of Steve and Kristy Byerly.

Hagerman of Carleton is a 1999 graduate of Airport High School. She is pursuing a nursing degree while attending MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurses Association. She is the wife of James Hagerman, step-mother to Jimmy and Caden and daughter of Janet Ploeger and the late Francis Ploeger.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a second year nursing student enrolled in the Registered Nursing Program, a Monroe County, Michigan, resident and have a 3.3 grade point average or higher.
