The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Ethel K. (Russeau) Fountain Endowed Scholarship to Timothy Burns, Jazlyn Clark, Douglas Dolezal, Dominic Hall, Jessica Hutson, Hakim Kartti, Cody Leach, Caleb Nisley, Nathan Nisley, Scott O’Grady, John Robbins, Destiny Watkin and Bradford Zapor. Each $2,250 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Burns of Ottawa Lake is a 1980 graduate of Erie Mason High School. He will be attending MCCC to receive a certificate in building management. Burns has been involved with the music ministry at his local church for the past 34 years, ministering men who are incarcerated at Milan Prison. He is a member of a folk group playing at local churches, elderly care facilities and coffee shops. Burns is the father to Nick, Rebekah and Leslie.
Clark of Monroe is a 2018 graduate of Monroe High School. She is studying construction management technology while attending MCCC. Clark is the daughter of Heather and John Clark.
Dolezal of Maybee is a 2009 graduate of Dundee High School. He is working towards completing a fine art degree while attending MCCC to then attend a four-year university to study transportation design. He is the husband to Jennifer and son of James and Cathleen.
Hall of Lambertville is a 2019 graduate of Bedford Senior High School. He will be pursuing a degree in mechanical design/technology while attending MCCC. He is the son of Cherise and Anthony Hall.
Hutson of Monroe is a 2019 graduate of Monroe High School. She is in her second year as a Nuclear Engineering and Technology (NUET) Program student at MCCC. Hutson is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and recorder/secretary for the Psychology Interest Group. She is the daughter of Donelda Kinne and William Hutson.
Hakim of Temperance is a 2001 graduate in Al-Fida, Morocco. He is studying electrical engineering technology while attending MCCC. Hakim is the son of Khadija Riad and Mustapha Kartti.
Leach of Monroe is a 2018 graduate of Monroe High School. He is in the welding program at MCCC. Leach is the son of Michelle and Jason Leach.
Nisley of Carleton is a 2018 home school graduate. Nisley is studying mechanical design while attending MCCC. Nisley has volunteered with the River Raisin Acoustic Music Festival. Caleb is the son of Terry and Michelle Nisley.
O’Grady of Monroe is a 2012 graduate of Frontier High School. He is pursuing a degree in the NUET Program at MCCC and plans to attend Siena Heights University to obtain his bachelor degree.
Robbins of Monroe is a 1993 graduate of Taylor Truman High School in Taylor, Michigan. He is working towards a mechanical engineering degree while attending MCCC.
Watkin of La Salle is a 2016 graduate of Jefferson High School. She is pursuing a degree in the NUET Program while at MCCC. She is the daughter of Peter and Brenda Watkin.
Zapor of Monroe is a 2000 graduate of Jefferson High School. He is studying automotive service technology while attending MCCC. He is the son of Mary Zapor and Bradford Zapor.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be pursuing a degree or certificate in any Applied Science and Engineering Technology division program (i.e. Automotive Service, Industrial Management, Product and Process, Welding, etc.), be a resident of Monroe County, Michigan, and a United States citizen, demonstrate financial need with preference given to a non-traditional student.
