THE FOUNDATION AT MCCC AWARDS ELIZABETH AND SAMUEL CAMPBELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Elizabeth and Samuel Campbell Memorial Scholarships to Brianna Hall, Brittany Hanner, Tracey Jarrett and John Prohaska. Each $1,400 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books. Hall of Lambertville is a 2017 graduate of Bedford High School. She is studying early childhood development while attending MCCC and was a 2019 member of Phi Theta Ka  ppa. Brianna is the daughter of Anthony and Cherise Hall.

Hanner of Taylor is a 2010 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, Taylor, Michigan. She is pursuing an associate of arts degree while attending MCCC then plans to continue her education earning a bachelor of arts degree with a major in English and a minor in psychology. Hanner is involved in the Writing Fellows Program and completed one semester of being a peer tutor in the Student Success Center at MCCC. Brittany is the daughter of Christopher Hanner and the late Cina Hanner and is wife to Joshua Massengale and mother to Landon Hanner.

Jarrett of Ida is a 2013 graduate of Powers Catholic High School, Flint. She is pursuing a nursing degree while attending at MCCC. Jarrett is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Student Nurses Association. She is the spouse of Jim and mother to Kasey and Dylan.

Prohaska of South Rockwood is a 1988 graduate of Woodhaven High School. He is pursuing an associate degree in skilled trades. Prohaska is a volunteer at St. Mary, Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church. He is the husband of Bridget and father to Ryan, Lauren, Steven, Rachel, Nathan, Emily, Joseph, Margaret, Sarah, Matthew, David, Annamarie, William, Monica, Lillian and Benjamin.

The Elizabeth and Samuel Campbell Memorial Scholarship was established by former MCCC President Emeritus Dr. Ronald Campbell and his sister, Rebecca Campbell Sandretto, to honor their parents’ drive for their children to pursue a college degree. Samuel Campbell was a journeyman tool and die maker and Elizabeth was a homemaker. Although neither attended college, they valued education and encouraged their children to do so.

To be eligible the student must demonstrate academic excellence and have financial need.
