Monroe County Community College has awarded the Bonnie Finzel Doster Altrusa International of Monroe Scholarship to Katie Lay. The $500 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and fees.
Lay of Monroe is a 2005 graduate of Monroe High School. She is studying nursing while attending MCCC. Lay is involved with Gabby’s Ladder “World of Widowhood” support group and grief support on campus. She is the wife of the late Steve Lay, mother to Amanda and Natalie Lay and daughter to Ruth and the late Thomas Spencley Jr.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must present financial need, good academic service, past or present community service and reside in Monroe County. Additionally, the applicant must be seeking education in order to return to the workforce.
