MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Upward Bound Scholarship to Mercedes Beavers and Chelsea Peterson. Each $500 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Beavers is a 2019 Monroe High School graduate. While attending MHS she was involved with the Upward Bound program and Art Club. She is the daughter of James and Stephanie Beavers.
Peterson is a 2019 Airport High School graduate. She will earn her associate degree at MCCC and continue to a university to earn a degree in applied behavior analysis therapy. She is a volunteer for the Puzzle Parents group, her local animal shelter and Children with Hair Loss. She is the daughter of Dan and Marilyn Peterson.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a first-generation college student or meet income eligibility guidelines.
